Climate change. Declining biodiversity. Plastics pollution. Inequities among neighborhoods. Environmental challenges can be difficult and even frightening. But by learning about these challenges and collaborating with others on solutions large and small, we can each make change happen and achieve greater justice.
To celebrate Earth Day, Many Helping Hands 365 is partnering with local organizations to offer a collection of FREE special events, service opportunities, learning programs, and nature experiences that will connect you with the ecology of our community—our birds, our plants, our waterways, and wetlands, our bugs—even our microbiomes—and the racial and social inequities that contribute to environmental decline. Nature belongs to us all. and we must all be its caretakers.
Learn how you can make a difference as an individual, a family, a voter, a citizen, a neighbor, an ally, a business owner, a landowner, a renter, or a consumer. Remember, the greatest environmental costs have been borne by communities of color. As our nation resumes the hard work of addressing climate and other pressing environmental challenges, our success will depend on understanding and addressing these disparities.
We hope you will join us on some of these adventures as we learn about pollinators and plastics, micro-grids, and urban forests—and lend our helping hands as volunteers, allies, activists, and citizen scientists.
Earth Day celebration events are free, and everyone is welcome! Spaces are limited for some programs, however, due to COVID-19.
You must sign up for events individually so we can keep outdoor events safe.
Walk leaders, organizers and presenters are giving their time. We hope you will find a way to give to. We encourage everyone who participates to also choose at least one volunteer or citizen science activity or spend some time picking up litter in your neighborhood, or helping a neighbor. Share your photos with us here, on Facebook, or at @MHH365!
Find YOUR way to lend a helping hand.
